Our Firefly Has a Name!

We love the cute little firefly that graces our logo. Recently, however, we realized that he/she did not have a name!

That didn't seem right, so we decided to find the perfect illuminating moniker by asking our artists, customers, and friends for some ideas! After all, they are among the most creative people we know.

We got several creative and de-light-ful suggestions and it was hard to choose a winner. In the end, however, we decided to go with a cute idea from Phyllis Peterson.  So now the Firefly Craft Gallery firefly has an official name!

And the name is ... Glowria!  We love it!

Phyllis receives a $25 gift certificate for her brilliant suggestion and we invite all our friends in Henderson County and beyond to come spend some time with Glowria and all her gift and craft friends here at the Firefly Craft Gallery.

We are sure you will find something you will love!

Artscape Banner Reveal 2017

Art Mob Studios on April 7th

ArtScape Hendersonville is an annually changing outdoor gallery of 40 banners hanging on Main Street, Seventh Avenue, and the downtown side streets. The banners contribute color and excitement to the area, helping to make Hendersonville a unique art destination.

This year, Firefly Craft Gallery is excited to be an Artscape sponsor! And even more pleased to be partnered with one our favorite artists, Beverly Kies, who designed the banner we sponsored.

Local artists and artisans are invited each year to participate in this juried art competition. Selected artwork is then reproduced on the 40 banners that will hang on posts on Hendersonville’s Main Street and Avenues for a year beginning in April of 2017.

These wonderful banners will be revealed on April 7th at the Art Mob Studios in downtown Hendersonville during a reception that begins at 5pm.  We will be there and hope to see a lot of our friends and local artists there!

ArtScape Hendersonville is a community-building project adding interest and color to the avenues of downtown Hendersonville, showcasing locally created art. In providing a unique twist on an outdoor gallery experience the project’s objective is to create an outdoor gallery experience making Hendersonville an exciting and unique art destination.

Our New Neighbors!

Two new baby goats at Carl Sandburg Home

Firefly welcomes two new additions to our neighbors at the Carl Sandburg Home in Flat Rock. Nanny Nettie gave birth to two precious babies this past Thursday!

The little billy will be called "Chicago" in honor of Carl Sandburg's adopted home and his famous poem of the same name.  The little doe has yet to be officially named, but the volunteers and rangers are considering "Charlotte" or "Chelsea."

They are both adorable and receiving lots of visitors at their home in the goat barn. Plan your visit to see Flat Rock's newest (and possibly cutest) residents - and then stop by to see us at Firefly Gallery.  We are just around the corner!

Name our Firefly!

What would you name this very cute firefly?

Send us your ideas and win a gift!

We love the cute firefly that graces our logo. Recently, however, we realized that he/she doesn't have a name!

That doesn't seem right, so we decided to pick the perfect name. We went through a view options -  Bolt (as in Lightning" bolt), Edison, Watt - but then it occurred to us that our artists, customers, and friends are among the most creative people we know. Perhaps they could suggest the perfect name.

So we are asking you: "What name would you suggest for our friendly little firefly?"

Send us your ideas (as many as you like!) and we will choose our favorite from all the creative names that are submitted.  And, to make the process even more interesting, we will award a $25 gift certificate to the winning entry!  So put on your most creative thinking cap and let us know what you think would be the perfect name!

We will accept entries through April 15th and announce a winner by May 1st.

Thanks for helping the Firefly Craft Gallery firefly find a name!
